So….I know that people LOVE BBC’s Sherlock. I love it too, but not as much as I loved RDJ’s Sherlock and Jude’s Watson.
But now there’s that new show on CBS….I think I’m gonna like it. I’m a MASSIVE Johnny Lee Miller fan and I quite like Lucy Liu as well. I know a lot of people are getting up in arms about it being a rip off but I think it’s only a rip off if you see it that way.
…I’d heard about “Elementary” coming soon… but had no idea Miller was cast as Holmes.
I love JLM… I do… he stole my heart in “Hackers” and I’m not afraid to admit it… but I honestly can’t see him as Sherlock Holmes.
I’ll have to watch the series and see what they do with it, though, since I’m enjoying all of the attention the character is getting lately!
AND HEY… WAIT… So, Lucy Liu is playing fem!Watson?… OMG. She actually managed not to get pigeon-holed into a part written specifically for a person of Asian descent, for once? Good for her! Seriously. She’s stated before that she honestly does not get offered many parts that aren’t looking for her to simply be the stereotypical or token Asian woman. (Take a look at her career resume, and you can see the pattern American Society has pushed on Asian-American men and women… but that’s a post for another day.)
On the other hand, I hope the decision to go for fem!Watson in general wasn’t made just so there could be “excusable” romance between Sherlock and “John” for American audiences… That would make me sad.
